Raising money to save KIDS with cancer

I’d lover to up an annual event that can be run out of multiple cities in the same spirit as all of the "walks for a cure" and "Cancer Walks" that take place for various causes each year. However, I'm looking for suggestions other than a walk or a run or other large outdoor events requiring an extraordinary amount of planning and coordination (Lets keep it simple and fun).

For example, St. Baldrick's does a great job raising money by having people set up and host events all across the country where people volunteer to shave their heads for a fee. Then, one evening that local event takes place (at a hall, a restaurant, a bar, etc..) where people show up and make donations/have heads shaved/raise money and have a good time.

I'd love to set something up more along those lines as opposed to a walk since this would give people more autonomy in the process and isn't as difficult a task to take on. I'd love to hear your thoughts on what "theme" these events could have. Giving anyone the power to organize their own event, wherever they’d like, and to be as large or as small as they could handle is the overriding theme here. (Note: Donut eating has already been suggested!)

So please send along your thoughts here or to my email:

Hey Pat
East Middle School does a Wheel A Bration... and kids ride bikes, walk, I think shoot hoops etc and people sponsor them, I have never volunteered at this event maybe you can email one of the PTO parents at East and find out maybe this would work for everyone.

Hey Pat,
What about trivia night? They use to have them in Florida for different causes, maybe we could get our friends in different cities to coordinate one on the same night. Not as much fun as sponsoring Melissa to shave her head but just an idea.

I've heard of spaghetti parties where each person pays 15-20 dollars and in return they get all the spaghetti they can eat and a night of good company. This could be great for parties of all sizes and you can make it just with close friends or have a church organize it and have the whole community come out..It's cheap and it doesn't ask much from those participating...

You could have multiple places host a can/bottle drive.
